Making time for social media!
Posted on March 31, 2014
As entrepreneurs, there are always many, many things to do and not enough time to do them all.
One of the items that often falls to the bottom of the list is keeping up with our social media. We know we should be doing more, but because there isn’t typically an immediate payoff, or it is seen as a “nice to have”, it is the first to go. This includes for me – look at when my last blog post was! I have resolved to blog more often – I have lots of topics running around in my head!
Here are three easy tips to try to get back on track with your social media:
- Use existing things you are doing as topics
Don’t recreate the wheel, blog, tweet or create a video using the great work you are doing as the basis for the topic. You will find it is a lot less work!
- Utilize the scheduling tool
Most social media now has a scheduling tool, so write a week’s worth of tweets and schedule them. To be authentic, you will still need to engage throughout the week (and make sure the scheduled tweets stay relevant as the week moves on) but again, you will find this a good way to ensure that you stay on top of your social media.
- Think about social media differently
Most people think of social media as a business development tool, so it always gets done after serving current clients. Start thinking of your social media as a way to provide value to current clients as well and that might help you elevate social media’s importance in your day-to-day activities.
Hope this helps you think about your social media activities in a different light!
